Presence of Christianity
In the first room, a cross hung in one corner. Under it sat a table and window seats. There was another small table and two chairs, in addition to the window benches. One deep drawer opened under the table for silverware. A candle holder hung from a ceiling hook to provide light for dining. Along one wall stood a chest. Four figures and a horse were painted on the inside of the top of the chest. It contained wool preparation tools: for carding, spinning, and weaving. In the other corner stood a stove, a huge white stuccoed monster with seating around all free sides. The stucco walls of the stove were dotted with niches which seemed to be made of glass. You could warm food or your hands in those niches. Neat. A pillow with cross-stitched reindeer rested on one end of the seats. The room had a low-paneled ceiling.
